Recipe: Hearty Brown Rice and Lentil Soup


In a 1/8 cup of oil sauté:

1 large onion

1/2 8oz mushroom slices


1/4 pkg lentils (washed & dry)

1/4 pkg brown rice (dry)


2 carrots, scrubbed

1 large parsnip

1 small turnip

Add to soup:

2 quarts water

1/4 cup braggs liquid aminos

Boil on low, covered 1 & 1/2 hours until thickened


1/8 cup nutritional yeast

1 Tbs garlic powder

1 Tbs onion powder

1 can tomatoes in tomato juice

Simmer for 45 minutes.

Very hearty, chicken flavored.  Can add soy curls, chunks or chickettes chunks in place of chicken but not needed.
